I wonder how many on here will join me in condemning these "women and child killers" this time?
In the past there have been many criticising the NATO troops if they accidentally kill a few civilians in the war zone.
But how many of these are now prepared to stand up and be counted, into condemning these murderous Taliban, those who have more innocent blood on their hands than anybody?

I think you can take it as a given that the default position of all AB posters is that of 'vehemently opposed to the atrocities carried out by the Taliban'.
This is a questionable post - you may as well ask people to condemn paedophiles or Nazi sympathizer.
It's a given.
But if it makes you happy - I for one condemn it.

Just picking up on Booldawg's post - no specific criticism aimed here - I find the media use of phrases like 'collatoral damage', 'friendly fire', 'theatre of operations' and so on immensely sinister. It de-humanises all the aspects of fear and death and destruction that these countries are having inflicted on them by two war mongers who have since walked away to eight-figure futures making speeches to suits.

Before D Day in 1944 the allies wanted to destroy rail and road links in France to stop the Germans repelling the invasion.
So we decided to bomb the land behind the beaches.
But because we did not want the Germans to know where we were going to land we also bombed lots of other places along the French coast.
It was estimated we killed around 15,000 innocent French civilians during this bombing.
I am sure many of those were women and children.
Not favoring Taliban, but just pointing that we have a record not too be too proud of, and lots of nasty things happen in war.

This is just the latest of a catelogue of bombs aimed at the Afghan population by the Taliban. Good to see you have finally noticed. I obviously condemn the perpetrators of these killings, are you now willing to give up the notion that the Afghan population are colluding with the Taliban, a theme you have proposed many times on AB?

When coalition forces release weapons we have to satisfy a series of criteria. These are called our Rules Of Engagment. These have been checked by legal teams and satisfy the Laws Of Armed Conflict. We don't bomb willy-nilly, nor do we hose down targets indiscrimenantly with machine-gun fire without any thought to civilian casualties. Add onto the end of that we also treat all casualties with the first-rate medical care that the field hospitals provide, and when I say all I mean civilians, coalition troops and Taliban.
On the other hand, the insurgeants do not have any form of ROE. They do not comply with the LOAC nor do they offer any form of humanitarian care. These are the same bunch of people who walked into a marketplace, found the most beautiful little girl they could and blew both her kneecaps away. They did this knowing that her dad would take her to the best possible medical care which was the British, and that we would send a helicopter to extract her to a hospital. The taliban did all this so that they could set up an ambush for the helicopter. I know all this happened as I was there.
That is one example of the horrific attitude for human life the enemy display. The people that say we are as bloodthirsty as them, or disregard human life like them are wrong. Not only are they wrong, but they have been so brainwashed by outside influences that they are no longer capable of making rational judgements based on the truth and life that they have lived.

Clearly stating that he would have rather seen those figures showing deaths to our own troops. Disgusting and traitorous I despair.
Although I do not agree with the war, I think that we should support our troops to the fullest and wish them a safe return back home.
Incidentally to see those 15000 bikers riding through Wootton-Bassett, helps to restore my confidence in the British people, and proves that some of the posters on AB are not a typical example of the British people, thank God.

Regardless of peoples views on whether we should be in Afghanistan etc the Taliban use the civilian population as shields, increasing civilian casualties,and can easily merge in by ditching their weapons n walk straight past our troops due to antiquated rules of engagement.
Our forces do a fantastic job with sometimes limited resources and the mental stress must be enormous combined with horrendous sights to civilians and colleagues. Put our politicians on the front line for 6 months instead of the odd publicity day they turn up for so they can really see what it is like.
All the British public should support our troops. I agree that it was great to see the bikers at Wootton Bassett. Nice to see support in a different way other than the humbling scenes we see the village lay on weekly for our fallen.

We have one of the best well equipped armies in the world and they have some AK 47's and some make shift home made bombs.
Its hardly a fair fight is it!
but anyway thats beside the point. I don't think we can say we take the morale high ground by accidentally killing thousands of people to their killing them on purpose!
The whole point of us being there is to.....well actually no one has ever given an answer to that that i find convincing but im sure it was to free the afghan people and not blow the cr@p out of them!
Again even though I don't feel i need to point this out, obviously the Taliban are absolutely wrong to use civilians as human shields.
