The song Lady Marmalade has been covered by many artists, but the All Saints one has totally different lyrics from the new one sung by Christina Aguilera, Pink , Lil` Kim and Mya. Why's that?

The basic lyrics are the same as the original Labelle verson, but the rap sections reflect the different interpretations by the cover artists. The latest version is from the film Moulin Rouge hence the replacement of New Orleans in the original.

The trend of re-working popular songs and including a 'rap' section in the middle has been running for some time - check out the 'new' version of 'Baby Come Back' with UB40 and Pato Banton, and of course, the 'new' version of 'Angel' by Shaggy, as well as dozens of others, given a new lease of life with an added rap in the middle.
