Help requested on a song we sang when i was at primary school (so written at least 25 years ago). I can only remember some lines or bits of lines but here goes - first line was: 'Children are people who live in a land made of....' and a bit later 'i can remember i once said my prayers, now, i stand by while my children say theirs, watching them kneeling' last line (i think) was: 'isn't it sad that our children should turn into people' - any info: lyrics, name of song etc. would be grateful (Googled without success)

"Children are people who live in a world, that is strange, it's a land where the little are great. Strange little people who travel all over the world, as they swing to and fro on a gate." Bruce Forsyth (my version, anyway) - the Mysterious People.

I'm not convinced - do you know any more of the lyrics? (can't find this song on google either, well, not the lyrics anyway)
Do not doubt me, Lord Vader, this IS the song. Bruce was a moderately successful recording artist and released this on 45 in 1964. My copy is, at present, packed at my mother's, but it was the first single I bought as a child and I loved it. I used to know the words by heart, but I am now a bit vague on the middle. However, the last couple of verses are as follows (I can find no trace of this record on the net either): I can remember when I was a boy, That my bed was a ship that I sailed through the night, And I remember the world was a place, That was eager and loving and shining and bright. Where is the boy that made friends with a rainbow And once rode upon' Where is the shy and mysterious person Oh where have I gone? I can remember I once said my prayers, Now I stand by while my children say theirs, Watching them kneeling, And I could cry that one day they'll forget, All that they're feeling, Isn't it sad that our children should grow into people.

don't suppose you would sell me the record? or perhaps do a mp3 copy? (palms would be crossed with silver :-)
I will gladly copy this record, but, as I said, it is at present with mother. I may be able to retrieve it at the weekend. Will post here when I have it.
children are peoplr who live in a land made of raindrops and puddles etc etc it was written by Val Doonigan and you can find all the lyrics on a site called lyricsfly. hope this helps
