I love TakeThat and hope all that you have stated above happens but I like Rock music too, Why dont you give TT a chance and actually listen to the new album it is not like their cds were 10 years ago, it has a more mature signature, maybe it will grow on you!!! If not stick to your rock and don't worry about who has number 1,there are more important things in life!!

Personally I say stick a whacking great middle finger at the charts; it's all Pop, Indie Rock and the occasional and really ***** Dance or Hiphop record.

Me, I go wherever: U2, Miles Davis, Beck, The Wailin' Jennys, The Like, Dizzee Rascal, Autechre...you just have to look harder.

I personally recommend allmusic.com and Metacritic for that sort of thing.

"What is happening to British music?" - well, If you believe that there is a connection between popularity (ie sales) and "quality" (which is surely totally subjective?) - then you are rather naive.
Does it really bother you if they are no. 1? - does it really matter?

They got number one cos its a fab, well written song...Gary Barlow back to his best...I was a fan years ago..and I am glad to see that they are back!! I am a rock, indie fan...doesn't stop me liking take that...nothing wrong with broadening your horizons....would rather prefer TT to be number 1, than cheesy kak from x factor!!!

its a popularity contest. take that have just come back and everyone is making a big fuss. but how long until they are gone again?

plus i think people are talking about westlife is because as far as boybands or manbands or whatever they call themselves these days....... westlife have done the best. its sonething like 14 no.1s and still rising. i remember when takethat split, i was 1 of the many that cried for them, but soon got over it. but westlife as been in my life 8 years now...... imagine the devisation when they split up, which they say is a couple of years away atleast, but they are all grown up and have got families and things. i think the only reson they carry on is to see if they can become the artist with the most number 1s. (after all they are in third place now, under elvis and the beatles!)

i say good luck to westife, they have worked hard for that they have, and also good luck to take that. but is will take alot to get me to follow take that cos they broke my heart!
