I am most heartened to see that The Diana Memorial Fund is marking the 10th anniversary of the Princess's death by earmarking up to 10 million of its remaining 25 million funds on promoting the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.

Are you convinced as I am that it is exactly the sort of thing Princess Diana would have been involved in had she lived?

Hmmm, does that mean the goverment will have extra funds left over now then to spend elsewhere as they wont need to pledge it to this...
What!!!!!???
Does anybody know if I can claim my money back which I donated to the memorial fund?

Whilst i wholeheartedly supported her work with AIDS and the abolishion of land mines, this is not my cup of tea at all.

I think this is a kick in the balls to The Duke of Edinburgh from beyond the grave.

Asylum seekers, indeed!!!!
Not my cup of tea either.
How about promoting our rights as British citizens to a decent 1st world NHS system, upgraded amenities and to be free of yob culture, stabbings and shootings. Why should asylum seekers have "rights"? We didn't ask them to come here.
Hmmm, where are all the do-gooders saying that this Q is racist?
Shadow Man, apparently no money can be claimed back once it has been donated. Many have tried after reading this article.
I never donate anything anymore unless i know where it is going. I too agree on the abolishion of land mines and AIDS but this is something i am proud to say i have not donated into...
I think the whole world has gone mad. There is no hope for mankind (and womenkind). Oh dear, I think everything is depressing me!!!!
must say this gave me a chuckle... bet the "moral majority" are spitting their tea out as we speak - ahh she was the peoples princess (provided they were good honest working class 12th generation british people!)

oh and Mr Ben - previously did you often donate money when you had no idea what it would be used for, what an interesting approach to charity donations you had... maybe theres a gay / lesbian tight-rope walking associate for jewish refugees from albania that is missing your donations - i say we all play donation russian roulette and see what happens
"Down with this sort of thing!"

"Careful now"

Copyright - Father Ted.
No IggyB, i never have donated money in the past without knowing where it is going.
I am not a scrooge, i donate 20 a month to different charities. (its not much but it must make a difference)
Breast cancer research, Genetic research, NSPCC, NSPCA and Burnley Hospice.
If i found out any of these were using my money for something else my donations would cease immediately...

"Hmmm, where are all the do-gooders saying that this Q is racist?"

They are not, because it isn't.
But Gromit, isnt it targetting a certain minority?
Mine got removed for the same reason :(
Its not fair :(

I think the reason why the do-gooders (I believe I'm a Group Captain in the the Do-Gooders Army) haven't decried the question as 'racist' is that...well...it has no racist overtones whatsoever.

Also, I think it's been pretty well documented that Diana and Philip had a very frosty relationship.

I'm sure that if Diana was alive today...err...then this question wouldn't be posted.

...because she'd be alive.

The question is about the donation not the recipients.
You really haven't got the hang of this have you.
The Telegraph article says:

"Fifty unaccompanied children seeking asylum arrive every week".

Are they really seeking asylum or are their parents or relatives just sending them here hoping they have a chance to earn a better salary than they could in their own country (and maybe send some home).

And of course once they come here they have to be put in accomodatrion, then educated, all at OUR expense.

Also we have no control over who these people are, completely by passing the "points" system which is supposed to make sure that people who come here
can add some value to the country.

Surely this is another example of how the asylum system is being abused and costing us money, to almost no benefit.
Splat Can I be a captain too?

Hiya Groms - How's clock making business going? Still flourishing?

I expect this is exactly the sort of thing Diana would be involved in. Further more, I think that she would also have had a lot to say about the trafficing of women asylum seekers/immigrants for sex.

But what would I know eh?
We could always get asylum seekers to search for landmines
I still love it when 'do-gooder' is used as an insult.

Because, of course, 'doing good' is a rubbish thing to do. Far better to sit and grumble 24 hours a day.
Gromit, you troll, you!
