I cannot believe anybody would enjoy this god awful, dreary, depressing empty music! And I thought Dido was depressing til I had to be exposed to 9 million bicyles in beijing.

Funny, I was just that thinking today!

Radio 2 seems to be playing some cringeworthy dirge about "if you were a plank of wood I'd nail you, if you were a boat I'd sail you...etc etc" add predictable 6th form rhymes ad nauseum.

I don't so much find her empty and depressing as just indescribeably wet and drippy

...still...each to his/her own!

She's young and has a pretty face but she ain't no poet. I can't stand her singing but has anyone else noticed that every song includes a bit where she sings flat? lol.

I actually quite liked guessing what she was going to sing next. I thought the 'nail you' part was far too risque for Quiet FM and thought about making a complaint..

However I agree...it's god-awful.

If you don't like what you hear her sing on TV, then you're unlikely to have heard much of her albums and have probably received a distorted view. She is a very versatile singer, capable of some really upbeat jazz and blues. Just that the media seem to prefer pushing the throat-slitting songs for some reason.

If I had half the voice she has, I'd be happy - and I am definitely not old! ;-)
