Maybe you weren't looking for it - but here's a serious answer. Of COURSE money makes a difference to everything you do (if you have it), but people perceive those who're fortunate enough to have a good lifestyle, with disdain, jealousy - or awe. I was born into a good family, and can't moan about hardship. The thing that brought me down to earth was in having a disabled child. No amount of money can make him better, but it can make things easier materially, and I'm grateful for that. I've had people ask if I would've married for love instead of money - which's an insult, since I love my husband, whatever. It just so happens that he was within a circle of friends who were also financially secure, but I have other friends who have nothing, and I certainly don't look down on them.
