Any examples of misheard lyrics? There's a song (which should have given me a clue, but no...) by Creedence Clearwater Revival called Bad moon on the Rise, but I always thought the lyrics went 'There's a bathroom on the right'.

the song "there it is " i dont know who sang it sounds like "ferret ears"
Hey, that song by Mark Morrison, Return of the Mack was it? I don't really remember, but when it came out I was around 5 or 6 and always thought the lyrics were 'turn of the light'. Stupid me, eh? xx
That great hit by Desmond Decker and the Aces 'Me Ears are alight!'. Or a line in 'We are family' by Sister Sledge; "We're making love with a femidom!" (Well thats what it sounds like!)
Beatles track 'Being for the benefit of Mr Kite' on the Sgt Pepper album. The last line goes 'And tonight Mr Kite is topping the bill'. The first time I heard it I thought they sang 'And a nice Mr Kaiser's having a beer'.
Maxell tapes used the desmond decker song in an award winning advert - it had a rasta holding up cards with what he thought the lyrics were. The only ones i can remember were 'darling cheesehead I was born to be greasy' and 'my ears are alight' - the tag line for the advert was 'I think that was what he said perhaps I should be listening to it on Maxell tapes' a classic advert. If anybody know where I can download it let me know.
sdds yeah that sister sledge song also has a line i thought (and is used on the comedy circuit) was "just let me staple the vicar". When i was young at school we used to sing hymns and i always used to think the hymn went "dance lord, wherever you may be, i am the lord of the dance settee" and never understood what a sofa was doing in a hymn...
The is a Corrs son "Give me a reason" I think its called that has a line "Am I cooking sausages". I don't know what its supposed to be but I'm certain its not that.
MrIxolite - the correct lyrics are 'and my make-up's off so just...(give me a reason)'. :-D
I remember that Maxell Advert Phantaxus! There was another song featuring a Slacker holding up cards to " Into the Valley" by the Skids - the only bits I can remember are " Into the Valley , the answer is Hugh's Toe! " and the chorus of " Ahoy,Ahoy- Juicy Men embalm Her-- Ahoy, Ahoy , Lungs nearly gave! "-----------" I'm Every Woman " use to come out as " Climb every Woman ! "-------- Finally the Neil Diamond line " At the End of the Day , When I come through the Door " was heard as " At the End of the Day , When I Kung-Fu the Door! "
la telf - your "ferret ears" song was sung by Shalamar.I remember it well! My misheard lyric was in "Bat out of hell" by Meatloaf ... he sings "I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram on a silver black phantom bike ..." For many years I thought he was singing "I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram, like a Cilla Black fan on a bike ..."
I can remember falling about laughing after hearing my Mum singing, '' Old pianaaah'' (piano), to Vienna by Ultravox. Also, my boyfriends Dad used to think Baggy Trousers by Madness was, ''Baggage Handlers!!''
LOL. I too sang about the dance settee for years with questioning it!
I like Desmond Dekker, My Ears are Alight...
