The original Modern Romance vocalist was Geoffrey Dean, replaced after one album by Michael Mullins. The band were considered lightweight at the time, although their jazz-tinged pop is remembered fondly as occasionally innovative - it actually includes a rap section on one of their first singles, long before rap was anywhere near as popular in the pop charts as it is these days. Of the members - Paul Gendler has been playing guitar in Mel B's live band, and John Duprez has carved out a successful career as a composer of film and TV soundtracks, including 'A Fish Called Wanda' among others.
