transfer music from cassette to cd?

Does anyone know if there is a shop/company that transfers music from cassette to CD? Preferably in the Edinburgh/Glasgow/Central Scotland area?

I don't have the equipment (or the tim!) to do it myself, and quite fancy getting some of my old fave tunes transferred to CD and hopefully onto my iPod!

can you not download them? depending on how much stuff you have, it may actually be cheaper as well as better quality!

You can actually get a machine that can record from Cassette to CD. I believe Maplins (Electrical) sell them. They certainly have been advertised in Ireland. Might be worth looking at their website catalogue.

Casettes would have to be done in real time, and even if there was a firm doing this, chances are it would really cost you. You'd be far batter off - as said - downloading tracks you needn't copy, and individually copying those you need to.

I wouldn't bother as the sound quality from a cassette is crap and the same quality would end up on the CD...

Agree with disco fever the quality on a cassette degrades so much with age that the qquality isnt worth it

I have to say if he cassettes were recorded on good equipment and were of type II (chrome) or higher formulation, the quality is likely to be pretty good, at least approaching cd. I had a 3 head pioneer deck in the 80s-90s and compared to the original you could really struggle to tell the difference. analogue has more warmth.
