I am looking for some song lyrics that are really meaningful and deep, you know the kind that when you hear the words the hair on your neck stands on end. I would really prefer happy lyrics that make you feel good rather than lyrics that are depressing. So come on then, what lyrics really stand out for you? Please just answer with artist, song and maybe a line or two that you really like. Thanks for your help.

H.I.M(His infernal majesty) Gone with the sin. "I love your skin oh so white,I love your touch cold as ice and i love every single tear you cry,I just love the way you're running out of life" May not sound much this way but when I hear Ville Valo sing it it makes the hairs stand up on my neck every time.Fantastic tune!!!
It's not especially 'deep' but the sound and atmosphere of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers' 'Anything That's Rock And Roll' does it for me - the way the guitars call and answer after the line "I know what I want, I wanna run around, while the electric guitars are playing way up loud!" If you could bottle that sense of optimism and freedom, the world would be a better place. It's on their first album - check it out.
Well, this sounds really pathetic - but in lean rhymes' song "Right Kind Of Wrong" - the chorus makes the hairs on my neck stand on end... dunno why - wish i did?!? I'm not into that crap normally
I went to see Morrissey the other week, and when he sang "There is a Light That Never Goes Out", I had a lump in my throat and my eyes welled up! "And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine..."
Headtime - When I read the question your answer is what I had in my head before I read your post. I concur absolutely, it is the best Smiths track, Morrisey's lyrics are pure genius. Even though I like most of his solo stuff, I do feel that both Johnny Marr and Morissey have never done anything as good on their own. They just brought the genius out in each other!
the word girl-scritti politti.i absolutely love it!
"And I fell back alone" by World Party "How soon is now" by the Smiths
Santana collaborated with Chad Kroeguor from Nickelback, producing a really nice song withlovely lyrics "why don't you and i get together? We'd travel the world and move straight up to heaven Cos without you they ain't never gonna let me in"
The lyrics of Christy Moore do this to me more than anyone else, there's too many to list but "Nancy Spain" is a good example if you're feeling sentimental. "All I remember" usually cheers me up when I hear it.
May be it's my age, this may sound rather strange. Try a little known track by Russ Conway ( if you can find it!) in which he speaks the lyrics to piano accompaniment. "Always you and me." "Take away two from three and you're left with one, Take away you from me and I'm left with none."
Aahh I have a song that does exactly what you're looking for. It's Blink 182- Always. It seems a little depressing at the beginning, but give it a chance, it brightens up! "come on let me hold you touch you, feel you, always, kiss you, taste you all mine, always."
billy joel goodnight saigon depressing but get goosepimples listening to it also streets of philidelphia,i hope you dance leanne womack, and original version of i cant make you love me
Dave Matthews Band......#41....Great tune!!!!! But might be depressing for some.
fisher - a different kind of wonderful (about NOT falling in love at first sight) deborah blando - innocence (just fab) madonna - easy ride (about taking things for granted and expectation)
