Were this group actual strikers? Was this a fundraiser for strikers?

I don't think the record itself was a fundraiser, but the group did hold left-wing political views and they did indeed lend their support on a few picketlines.

The group are actors - the lead singer played a mechanic in 'Corrie' for a few months. The band are all avowed socliasists, and were proud to be associated with the minders' cause, and may have donated some of their royalties to the 'fighting fund' at the time.
