I don't recognise it, but if you know whose show you heard it on the Radio 2 website give full playlists for all shows over the last month or so.
The Toys- Lovers Concerto

the lyric is ''bright colours of the rainbow"
Although The Toys is the most well known version, there were others.

Here is Sarah Vaughan's version

Supremes also did a version.

So did Kelly Chen

true colours by cyndi lauper
Cyndie Lauper was a few years after the sixties. These are her lyrics and don't seem to me to be a good match, so I'm sticking with The Toys which was from the sixties.

True Colours
You with the sad eyes
don't be discouraged
oh I realize
it's hard to take courage
in a world full of people
you can lose sight of it all
and the darkness inside you
can make you fell so small

But I see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

Show me a smile then
don't be unhappy, can't remember
when I last saw you laughing
if this world makes you crazy
and you've taken all you can bear
you call me up
because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow
A Lover's Concerto
1965

How gentle is the rain
That falls softly on the meadow,
Birds high up the trees
Serenade the flowers with their melodies

Oh, see there beyond the hill,
The bright colors of the rainbow.
Some magic from above
Made this day for us just to fall in love

Now, I belong to you
From this day until forever,
Just love me tenderly
And I'll give to you every part of me.
