The hairs on my arms are standing at attention! In Canada, the first Sunday in May is called "Battle of the Atlantic Sunday". It commemorates the men of the RCN and Merchant Navy who participated in the convoy runs across the Atlantic to the UK. Anyway, the parade is warming up close to where I live, and the sound of the bagpipes and drums is quite stirring..........Here, I"ll open my window and turn my speakers on: can you hear them?:)

I can, Stewey, there is nothing like a military band - and especially the pipes and drums - to stir the senses!
Gawd stewey turn the noise down, can't do with bagpipes.

It's amazing (grace?) after the awful cacophony of them all warming up separately how they finally blend together and produce such a melodious sound.
A very worthy commemoration Stewey, during the war my 'aunties' (not real but as good as) next door got parcels from Winnepeg from their brother and his wife. They contained all sorts of goodies. I was only young but I remember Dentine chewing gum, oatcakes with lovely gooey dates inside and other things for their comfort. All because those people ran the convoys. Good on them I hope you enjoy your day. Is the weather OK there?
