Oasis were more of a together outfit musically. The Gallaghers were obsessed with conquering the world musically (Noel even claimed they were 'bigger than the Beatles)
Sex Pistols didnt really give a hoot about the fame and success, it was just a by-product of what they were doing.
I'd say musically Oasis were better but as an influence the Sex Pistols were light years ahead.

I am with Joe. Oasis were the ones who were influenced. They didn't do any influencing themselves in my opinion. They did have to odd good album but I am not really a fan. Same goes for the Pistols, again the odd great song but all in all not a fan.
If I had to choose, I would choose the Pistols because they were around first. I personally don't think you can compare the two though!

The Sex Pistols's were far more influential than Oasis. One of the first gigs they did was at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall in 1976 and is often quoted as one of the most influential gigs of all time and there were some very (or about to become) famous people in attendance. Joy Division, The Smiths, The Fall, The Buzzcocks, Mick Hucknall, Paul Morley and Tony Wilson although some say that he wasnt there but wished he had been! Oh and the legend that is John the Postman!
Liam 'I-wish-I-was-John-Lennon' Gallagher and co didn't do anything 'new' musically, and as regards 'Britpop' I think the Stone Roses and even Blur were superior to them. Musically the Sex Pistols didn't do anything new either, and as regards smashing up their instruments, Keith Moon was there well before them. Perhaps they were the first band to spit on their audience though!
Same old same old
Unfortunately there have been and will always be many many many bands who are not at all original and churn out the same old rubbish. It has always happened and always will. Don't get me wrong I love music and I do like some of the stuff around today but after years of having to listen to chart music all day every day - you lose faith.
