Reasonable profit margin for a promoter running a club night?
2 Answers
I am currently designing a concept for a Drum & Bass club night. The venue I have in mind has a maximum occupancy of 250, and other nights locally seem to have an admission charge in the region of £5.00. A full sell-out would bring in a revenue of £1250, but I am staying on the side of caution and basing my figures on a guest-list of 200, a revenue of £1000. The venue is free (they make their money at the bar) and I have pencilled £150 for flyers and marketing. I am still investigating the cost of DJs, equipment hire and a photographer. How much of a margin is considered a good profit to make from an evening, and am I missing any other important considerations? All advice welcome, I’ve read a lot of guides online - but they’re all pretty suspect!
