Which albums have you owned for a while but never particularly enjoyed, only recently listening again and appreciating?

I've had Radiohead's 'Kid A' since around 2001: never liked it. Dusted it off yesterday, gave it a listen and have changed my view.

morning snags(h). I have Alanis Morrisette "Jagged Little Pill - Acoustic" CD, and just used to listen to a couple of tracks.

a few months ago I listened to the whole CD and it's a cracker.. with a couple of duff ones!

I had underworlds second toughest in the infants for ages before I really got round to listening to it properly and it's a class album.

I my experience, music that appeals instantly can be linked to a short enjoyment span - indeed, the entire pop chart indulstry is based on this simple premise. The need for new sounds to replace the instantly appealing but unsatisfying music of the pop genre leads to a rapdi turnover in both production and consumption.

The 'grower' can lead to far more long-term enjoyment, and sometimes benefits from a period of marination in the back of the mind / cd rack.

One such Cd that springs to mind that i got sent and flicked through and didnt rate was " We live and die in these Towns" by The Enemy. I played it again about a year later after hearing one of their singles on the radio and absolutley loved it and then ended up going and see them live. Always good to give things a second chance!

rammstein's album mutter, never really got truely into it and would skip a couple of songs. but this last year im just addicted, and the songs i used to skip past are now my favs
