.. I'm working from home tomorrow as we're not clear what's happening to public transport round here (I don't want to get stranded in the office)... anyone else striking, or affected by it?

Errmmm.... OK. Overeaction or what?

"Public" transport is predominantly run by PRIVATE sector companies so not affected at all. Hell, even the Tube drivers are working normally tomorrow and they don't normal need much of an excuse for a day off!!!
So will the town be full of kids having a day off?
I'll be striking.
They'll be picketting outside the office and the main hospital but transport all running as normal... I guess I might have to find somewhere else to stand to have my ciggie though.
You are always striking, kazzamac.

(in the "eye catching" sense, of course)
I offered to go on strike but Mrs jth pointed out that it wouldn't be immediately obvious to onlookers.........."How would they tell?" was her pithy comment. :o(
Won't affect me. It will give the strikers a chance to do their Christmas shopping.

I'll be on the picket line at City Lit in Holborn as a gesture of solidarity with those who devote their lives to adult education.
Why did I think you lived in Newcastle, MR ??
I have no idea...
My mistake.
I'm not in a union so will have to cross the picket line. We were not allowed to book leave without grovelling well in advance with a good reason.
hey JJ if MR lives in London, that's north of Horsham, so therefore qualifies as Tyneside....
I wonder if Olive will be bunking off?
I thought with the strike you're not even oblighed to phone in on the day Prudie but you wouldn't get paid obviously. Most of my department isn't striking and we're annoyed we've been told to cancel pateints, but we've been told to do it because people don't have to phone in among other things.
Well here in Belfast there will be no buses or bin lorries. The drive to work in the morning should be a breeze then without these chicanes getting in my way :-)
Just a normal day at work for me..
yes! up the workers!!! i'm striking for the first time for the rights of my fellow nurses and myself. about....ruddy....time x
Where's Holborn? I'm lost when I get outside of Bristol. No sense of direction at all. Actually, I am lost when I get outside of the district I live in.
