I've sent numerous emails to the shop to try and get the info I need before I sign up but I'm still not satisfied. They make the answers as vague as possible which is puttting me off.
Basically I want to get a camera from there which I can't afford to pay up front.plus with the 10% discount on credit orders it makes it the cheapest placeto get it. below is the email I sent to them but they didn't really answer properly. I've also tried ringing but can't get through. I don't like calling these premium numbers though. Hopefully someone on here with experience of shopping at very can tell me what there like with this sort of order. The sentences in brackets are from very.
I'm still a bit confused about something I'm hoping you can make clearer for me.
(You have up until the date to pay for the item, if you want to pay it in full the day before that would be fine and no interest would be applied.)
that's fine, I understand that i have until the end of the 12 months before I have to pay anything.
( I can confirm if you purchase something on buy now pay later interest is applied at the point of order.)
This is what confuses me as the line directly above states that from the date of order, interest is applied, but if I were to pay in full the amount before the 12 months were up I wouldn't accrue the interest. The two lines contradict themselves.
Does it mean that interest is applied the day of order regardless, on all credit orders as a precortion, and it only gets applied (the person has to pay) if the person doesn't pay the item amount within the 12 months? ( basically it gets applied from date of order but i wouldn't necessarily have to pay the interest if i pay within the 12 months?)
As long as the item amount gets paid before the 12 months, there are DEFINITELY no other charges throughout the 12 month period on any item ? Am I right in thinking this?
Sorry to go on about it. I just like to make sure I know how things actually work before I sign up to anything.
They don't seem very forthcoming. Makes me suspicious. Before you decide, why not try a search on Google for the shop or company name to see if anyone has left any comments about them, favourable or unfavourable?
"very" is a very well established brand
it's not a premium phone number, it's 5 pence per minute
it doesn't seem contradictory to me - no interest to pay if you pay within the interest free period, but if you go over, they retrospectively apply interest from the date of order
ps, although reviews of very on the internet seem bad, some of them are from people who apid late, got the interest added, then complained about something that was their own fault. I had a littlewoods account for years and never had any problems with it. If you wait a while, i expect the camera is cheaper elsewhere, but if you don't have the money and need the interest free period (and will DEFINITELY pay it off within the correct time) it's probably ok
It needs a micro-sim card - but I can't find any details at all of pricing for the 3G service (or even which networks may support it).
My guess is that (once the camera is actually available) we will see it offered on contract by one or more of the major networks with the usual "free hardware but a ramped up monthly charge" packages.
I've actually got more info from people on here than the actual customer service at the store
One last thing........there's a 10% discount on credit orders for new customers. Does the discount apply at the time of purchase when you first order, or do you have to claim it back?
Most points have already been covered, but one pitfall to look out for is - how long does it take for your payment to be credited to the account?
I'd get it in 5 or so working days ahead of the deadline, just in case. Certainly some of the objections I've seen arose from confusion over this.
