Complaining about the PM not visiting flood areas, He can see what's happening the same as we all can. What purpose is it going to serve by him going. Flying from A TO B TO C all day in an expensive helicopter with also a police helicopter as security. The police have enough to do as it is, and the cost of such can be better spent. Just let him do his job as he see's fit, from his office.
We saw David Cameron do this a few years back, and it don't achieve anything at all.

I will reiterate. How the Welsh waterways are maintained and controlled has nothing to do with Boris or Westminster. ..You didn't know did you. Just bumping away again when you know nothing. If you had been able to pay attention you would have noticed that it was being discussed just yesterday in Cardiff. Why should Boris visit flood victims in Wales? Indeed...

My brother in law lives in a suburb of Manchester. His brand new 5 bed house was flooded to 1st floor level on Boxing day in 2015.He and his wife lived out of suit cases for a year in a Holiday Inn.The River Irwell burst it's bank again during Storm Dennis. His house is again flooded and after the last flooding his house insurance was unaffordable. He tried to sell his relatively new house after the 1st flood but it is unsaleable due to flood history.
The last thing he want's or would appreciate is a visit from any Prime Minister. He would rather someone visit it him with some form of compensation for the local authorities failings.Incidentally. I doubt he would appreciate a visit from the likes of you with your inane comments. Not sure ,at the moment, if he is suicidal or homicidal.
Yes I know someone who has been flooded TWICE.

"DD, as ZM has said, many people cannot get flood insurance."
The vast majority of houses in flood areas qualify for protection via Flood Re. Only houses built after 2009 do not qualify - this was to deter developers building on flood planes.
Therefore, if people have no insurance because they've made a conscious choice not to buy it, why the hell should they be compensated?

Affordability is relative.
What you are stating is that if somebody cannot afford insurance, and they suffer something that would normally be covered by insurance, that they should have the 'claim' paid from the public purse.
That's mad.
I would 'get it' for people where insurance just simply isn't available, but for people to be compensated where they have made a conscious decision not to buy insurance, for whatever reason that may be, is nuts.

//You'd think insurance would be good enough.

You have the bloody nerve too ask ,"Have you ever been flooded ?"
You obviously haven't with a typically moronic statement above.
Insurance can never compensate for family heirlooms, photographs and other precious mementos that have been either swept away, irreparably damaged. How will insurance or compensation alleviate that heartbreak. My BIL can no longer get affordable House Insurance and cannot sell his house due to the inept handling by the environment agency who should have managed the R. Irwell and dredged it periodically.
Ta Teacake. My blood boils Retro as I begin we begin to find out(not from the officials responsible mind) what has gone wrong in a number of cases. Besides the dredging issue there is also the failure to clear culverts and water courses after the summer growth has died back or clear up debris after high winds. We have had landslides where relatively minor streams have backed up due to being blocked. Culverts that have recently been enlarged not cleared and therefore still causing flooding and misery. I remember here in N.Wales when the Conwy, Clwyd, and Elwy estuaries were regularly dredged, as they had been for centuries to allow large boats to get a distance inland. This all stopped in the 70s and the flooding gets worse and wider every year but they are still in denial. As I said earlier the ineffective so called minders of our waterways have had the EU as a handy get out of jail free card to hide their incompetence behind. Time we dredged their cosy offices of the dead wood and fetid sludge that has settled there.
