Complaining about the PM not visiting flood areas, He can see what's happening the same as we all can. What purpose is it going to serve by him going. Flying from A TO B TO C all day in an expensive helicopter with also a police helicopter as security. The police have enough to do as it is, and the cost of such can be better spent. Just let him do his job as he see's fit, from his office.
We saw David Cameron do this a few years back, and it don't achieve anything at all.

I am not telling people not to comment I wouldn't dare do that. I'm telling people not to have such strong opinions on people who have an opinion of the PM when they don't know the situation those people with opinion on the PM are in.

Yes, I understand what you are saying danny - and I'm saying being impecunious is not reason enough to be given compensation as a result of not buying insurance.

The price of insurance will be higher in flood-prone areas, which is absolutely fair enough, but unaffordable? Nah, I don't believe that.

It's about priorities - insurance is a boring overhead that doesn't serve any purpose, until it's needed of course, so I can sort of understand why some people would rather spend their money on something else, but if I lived in an area prone to flooding, I'd make bloody sure I had adequate insurance, whether it cost £200 or £2,000, and I'd cut my cloth accordingly so that I could afford it.

In some areas it appears to be a case of not IF it floods, but WHEN it floods, and therefore if insurance is available, but not purchased, I really really struggle with the idea that they should be entitled to tax payers money.

Just like China, India, New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan(big exporters of people) Brazil or any where else that has what you call a "natural disaster". The begging bowls that get rattled at us in the name of charity have nothing to do with the economy. It is just eager do gooders taking advantage of the caring and willing to help British. Our problem is we never take care of ourselves first and when we try to, there are deep seated people buried in the system that hate Britain and would see us go to hell in a handcart and consider that a result.

Developers can't build on flood planes unless local authorities have goven permission. Maybe the simple solution is to claim the full cost of any flood on those incompetent enough to allow such risk/tragedy. Might focus minds on due diligence in the future.

That’s why Flood Re isn’t available on houses built after 2009 to disincentive developers building in area susceptible to flooding.

For a start mortgage companies won’t lend, and therefore they’d have trouble selling the houses.

Togo, do you not actually think it's more to do with honour? Do you think the UK right now needs donations from other countries because some people have ab it of water in their kitchen?

Some perspective wouldn't go a miss, when you think about what people ask for donations to go towards in comparison to the situation only a few in the UK are experiencing right now.

Again, we don't need charity and we don't want it.
