............but they still don't see it. Is Bojo the Clown going to resign? Nah!!
20,000 deaths, carry on with lockdown.
50,000 deaths, carry on with lockdown
70,000 deaths, carry on with lockdown
100,000 deaths, carry on with lockdown.
From what I can see, nothing will stop this virus. It's finding the weakest and most vulnerable and it will continue to do so. Johnson seems to be taking the stance that he will continue to act like King Canute, then go home and put his Emperors' New Clothes on. Let's see what he says when the figures hit 200,000 in short time.

Thanks. Theres no windups section so current affairs seems best
perhaps its just that we are still living in la la land, that many don't believe its real... going on the people out and about when we had snow in London, taking their kids for an outing in it.
It certainly seems to be making people more tetchy.
The slightest hint of non-conformity and ABers come down on the 'culprit' like a ton of bricks.
I think perhaps people have been more scared than needs be.
The Covid Tsars are always talking about 'ramping up fear'.
I think the regulations are deliberately vague to add to the general feeling of unease.
Who wouldn't be a bit tetchy when a foreseeable crisis that is currently costing 1,100 lives a day was allowed to happen? Government action to prevent, or at least to reduce the scale of, the second wave came far too late. It angers me in particular that the obsession over "saving Christmas" led to relaxing the November restrictions just as they were starting to have a clear effect.

I dare say that the new variant hasn't helped matters, but even with that the decision to relax restrictions in December was monumentally short-sighted.
Thing is "lockdown" is not really lockdown is it?

Borders have still been open, many businesses open are not essential (for eg Gregs the bakers, Subway sandwiches to name just 2). Most of the Rules have not been rules at all ...simply "advisories".

Up until recently ive been against lockdown (worried re economy, education and mental health) but ive changed my mind and now believe it should be much stricter - random police checks and road blocks included.

The way I see it id rather have a VERY hard lockdown that was shorter than this piffling half hearted measure. Then when many have been vaccinated the economy can get up again at full force...

Im no health expert, nor business analyst but that makes sense to me.
and where do you put roadblocks? London has seemingly been hit the hardest, how do you police it here just one place. take that across the country, how many police do we have now.... not nearly enough to make the smallest dent it would seem.
Thread's over, folks. Unless someone stumbles into current affairs by mistake.
Perhaps there should be a dedicated Covid Section so that certain ladies can completely avoid the subject. Although I've always found if I've no interest in a thread on this site I can simply ignore it.
First it would need to be legislated that anyone can only travel within a certain radius of home.

The lack of police officers for road blocks would indeed be a stumbling block.

But perhaps train up non police officers for this ...all it would be is checking number plates and licences - to see what area the car ought to be in. If out of area a few questions as to why (there will be some valid reasons of course). then if they are out of area without good cause that where the police would come in (so many have 1 / 2 police per "roadblock" to enforce rules).

As to the "where" well anywhere and everywhere .... not every day and not the same places. Just totally random checks - in ALL parts of the country.

we have nigh on 65 million people in UK, as i have said all along with regards to policing us, its not remotely feasible. One can hope that many do the right thing, obey the laws that have come into play but sadly that doesn't seem to have happened -
though we wouldn't need police for the checks - that could be trained up civilians. Then only if someone is caught out of area with no good reason a copper could be on hand to arrest. So 2 cops per roadblock ....and we are not talking about hundreds and hundreds of road blocks....just a few - sporadically spaced and for a few hours at a time.

I know I may be thinking too simplistically but im sure there must be a way.

Also at the height of their lockdown essential workers in South Africa have to have a permit that they keep in their car to say they were allowed to travel out of area. (their lockdown has now eased somewhat)

If we could rely on everyone to be sensible but...alas we can't!
these civilians would need to know the law, and as that stands many police officers don't know it, not the up to the minute changes that come into play seemingly every day or at least every week. I am merely pointing out that its just not possible to get that up and running in a suitable time frame, if at all .
///these civilians would need to know the law, and as that stands many police officers don't know it, not the up to the minute changes that come into play seemingly every day or at least every week. //

TRUE!!
We have never been in a lockdown.
New Judge is your man on the spot, and he just about keeps up with the laws, and changes.... i don't know many of them, i only know that trying to control the populace at large clearly hasn;t worked. I have no answer to the problem at all, but can see that more deaths are inevitable.
Roy completely agree! UK "lockdown" is nothing of the sort.
roy what have the government introduced then if not a lockdown.
Might not be petrol for travelling soon, in Wales. Or you'll need a special permit from the head idiot, whose name escapes me, to access said petrol. Sounds very NWO so it's probably right.
