I'm not sure about the alchohol thing, what with Milton Keynes Budweiser vs Luton Smirnoff, but I do agree about the emnity thing. I think the mutual expulsion of diplomats is a quaint game straight out of a Frederick Forsyth thriller, and as long as it never proceeds to nuclear annihilation I think it's all a huge laugh.
