Thanks for your incisive reply Talbot !
Would you rather he'd have decided otherwise? Seems like a sensible decision to me.
Sensible, and exposing him as a blowhard liar.
Mr President my bottom.
Question Author
Dougie is right.

All those things that attracted his fans to him in the first place, are being quietly dropped, as people more intelligent than him, tell that they are just not possible. So his minority Presidency will be built on lies.

No wall, no abandoning Obama care, and now his biggest and most popular lie...."That Woman" isn't going to jail after all.

If I were one of his numbskull supporters I would feeling a tad cheated today.

Lets see how he is going to bring back millions of manufacturing jobs to the States, without causing huge inflation.
Mikey, you’re criticising him for having the common sense to listen to people ‘more intelligent than him’. That doesn’t seem terribly sensible to me.
Bet he sets the FBI on her behind the scenes especially onto the Clinton Foundation.

Whilst it sounded good at the time, the reality is that there are better things to occupy his time like winding up Establishment lefties like you. Seems he is at the top with Lord Farage on that one.
It's Not unusual for Politicians to go back on their promises.

Hans.
//So his minority Presidency// Ha Ha ha Ha.

So when the way elections work is in you favour e.g. UKIP 4m votes for 1 seat you all all for it, when it delivers something you dont like then you bang on like this.

You cant have it both ways so make your mind up what it should be.
Not sure it was a promise. Was it in his manifesto or just words at a podium?
Question Author
Hans....I agree but I am pointing out that all the things he is now disowning, are exactly why the numbskulls voted for Trump in the first place.
Question Author
YMB....we all heard Trump promise these things, time and time again. He can't deny them now.
Mikey, I didn’t support either candidate, - in fact I’m very pleased I didn’t have a vote – but people have their opinions and, contrary to what you believe and promote, disagreeing with yours doesn’t automatically make them numbskulls.
Trump to Clinton: “If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation."

Trump didn't issue a manifesto (the Republican party did), so you can only go on the things he said he'd do, and that was one of them.
Mickey, no doubt you would love him to follow though on his more outlandish ideas so you could slate him more.

Unfortunately for you The Donald is a very clever man, far more than you are and he knows that he has to unite the whole country.

He cannot alienate half of the country so must compromise. As a businessman rather than a career politician, he knows this and will do so and move on. Remember the saying Divided we fall, united we win.
@youngmafbog....It might be the case that Trump will quietly get the FBI to pursue matters.

The New York Times has already reported..//Mr. Trump said he wanted to “move forward” from the subject. Without elaborating, he said that “we’ll have people that do things,” perhaps a reference to the F.B.I. or Republicans who might continue to press for prosecutions in the email or foundation cases. But the president-elect made clear that he would not seek to pursue an investigation himself nor make it a priority after he assumes office.//

Hans.
Question Author
YMB....from what you are saying, I take it you agree that Trump could make all the outlandish promises in the world, abandon them as soon as he has won, and everything would be OK ?

Basically, its OK to lie to the electorate ?

Trump only had outlandish ideas....he didn't have anything else, and he still doesn't. He lied to his supporters, in order to gain their votes...a simple but unavoidable truth.
Question Author
Trump is only "clever" in that he is a clever liar.

His target audience took all he said hook, line and sinker.
Mikey, //Basically, its OK to lie to the electorate ? //

Maybe he's been having lessons from Tony Blair!! Oooo .... the plot thickens!!
Sensible and inevitable. We are just going to have to accept the fact that many things said in this wretched campaign were bluster.
