Residents living in Londons Brexit heartland have admitted they didn't know what they were voting for, and things have gone downhill ever since They voted in overwhelming numbers to leave the EU. Havering (London)
Voted 96,000 for Brexit and 42,200 to stay. The majority who voted out have now admitted they got it wrong and if they were given the chance again they would vote remain........Lets get Brexit undone.....

It is true. A lot of voters did not understand the consequences of Brexit and now regret it. I suppose they may let us back in if we apply in ten years time.

You've interviewed them all?
TORATORATORA, "they seem to forget that 35-40% of Labour voters voted BREXIT."

You've interviewed them all?
Please supply a link that shows 96,000 have been polled and they have changed their minds.
You seemed to assume that we would be welcomed back - the other 28 EU countries quite like it without us.
We would likely have to wait many years before we were re-admitted, and this time without the Thatcher rebate.
Better start thinking of a plan B, Gully.

Residents have admitted it was the wrong decision .
The Social effect is, we have gone downhill, people are more aggresive , they're grumpy .And everybody's struggling, food prices have gone through the roof, we are struggling to pay our bills Things have got worse since Brexit .It's been a disaster.

Gromit 20.19 ....Don't you mean the other,
27 EU countries. Do try and keep up.
You don’t have a plan B do you?

Labour are not going to pledge rejoining the EU anytime soon.

The Brexiteers even thought they could put an end to immigration. Most leave voters Believed the UKs departure would result in a fall in immigration because thats what Brexit was REALLY all about.
But they are still coming from Syria, Hong Kong, Ukraine. And in their boatloads across the channel There are probably more coming in now than before Brexit
All of this theory is based on the residents of South street, Romford ( Gromits link), all 234 of them. gulliver is the one with a sore foot.
Question Author
Suella Braverman calls for less immigration.
Saying, we can train our own HGV Drivers, Butchers and fruit pickers .eh .I will have a pint of what she's on
Gulliver - That's not how democracy works.

You can always find a swathe of people who, with the gift of 20/20 hindsight, would vote differently on anything, from Brexit to joining the Secret Santa at the office.

But just because people now decide they want to change their minds doesn't give them a chance to vote again.

As I said, that's not how it works.

If I had my time again, seeing how things turned out, I'd have pulled my own head off before voting for Tony Blair.

But I did, based on what I believed at the time, and I have had to live with it.

That's the world we live in, and the systems we operate to select our voting choices.

It may not suit you, but it's what we have, and you posting your dissatisfaction on here day in and day out won't change anything.

21,52 "Clowns" You must be a Boris supporter.
No one is really facing up to a faltering Brexit.
The Government who should be going all out to make Brexit succeed, aren’t. Probably because they are uniquely talentless. They seem incapable of doing anything right, and watch impotently as Brexit does not live up the promise.

Labour won’t rejoin but the same as the Tories, don’t seem to know what to do. Corbyn dithered, and rightly lost big, but Starmer is bereft of ideas to turn it round.

So unlike 2019, Brexit will not be a issue at the next election, because no one knows quite what to do.
The majority who voted out have now admitted they got it wrong and if they were given the chance again they would vote remain

Brexit has been very disappointing. It has not lived up to expectations. So I am sure there is some voter regret, but so what?
The EU are not going to let us back in soon (if that is what people want) so we should be asking the Conservatives and Labour how they are going the make Brexit work. At the moment, both sides have given up, and we are all losing out because of that.
Question Author
AH @ 21.52 My day in and day out posts may not suit you, and probably won't change anything .But at the end of the day you have the choice , not to read them or reply to them . ..The choice is entirely yours.
//According to the Electoral Commission, the East London borough on the Essex border voted to leave by the largest amount when compared to other areas of the city, with 96,885 voting for Brexit and 42,201 voting to stay.//

And then their survey findings:

//The majority of locals we spoke to on South Street in Romford admitted if they were given the chance again, they would change their mind seven years on from the fateful referendum.//

So let’s have a look at those interviews for which we have the details:

1. Regrets voting to leave.
2. Seemed confused and said she hopes we don’t have a Conservative government next time.
3. Voted to stay and didn’t comment what he would do next time.
4. Was Lithuanian and was upset that many of her friends returned home.
5. Glad she voted to leave but was frustrated that the best had not been made of it.
6. Voted to leave and believed it would be another 3-4 years before the benefits were realised.
7. Voted to leave and would do the same again (and he lives in London Bridge, not Havering).
8. Didn’t know one way or the other.
9. Was visiting from Romania and thought it was very good for England.
10. Didn’t care much either way.
11. Was upset that BHS had closed (which it did in August 2016, just two months after the referendum)..

Not what you'd call conclusive, really. Not that it matters. But it would be nice if posters at least had a grasp of the "surveys" they were asking us to consider.
