I meant HMS Gas-meter. ( or Petticoat or HMS Fanny)

He's not a Royal Navy bigwig, he's a retired RN bigwig. For all we know he spends his days swigging rum and singing sea shanties until a tabloid phones for a few quotes.

The answer to your question is YES.

We have had some outstanding achievements when collaborating with the French (Concorde, Chunnel) so respecting their sensitivities is no bad thing.  Certainly not a reason for the silly name-calling which the Tory Supporters seem to indulge in so much. 

And the French will accomodate us in return?

I very much doubt it.

Surely we are above being riled by the Gauls and their odd ways though.

The firesides have always been odd. They burned Joan of arc for wearing trousers now she is their patron saint!

Someone needs to swot up their history.
