Its very simple,my parents offered me incentives. if I behaved and did well in school i got rewards/incentives whether it be a small present, a book i might want ( most kids probably dont even know what a book is for these days !) or a trip out somewhere, if i didnt do well because i was misbehaving then the threat was withdrawal of those incentives.
