Almost everyone who was in the business of looking for Bin Laden presumed that (if he was still alive) he'd be in the Tora Bora cave complex, or similar, sharing the privations of his fighters, etc. not living 'openly', to some degree or other, in a swanky pad in central Pakistan.

If they got one of the many Bin Laden lookalikes by mistake, there would be very little incentive to own up to their error. If it was Bin Laden, you would have though they would have gone out of their way to dispel any doubt. As it is, they could not have staged it better for the conspiracy theories to propagate.

I may be wrong, but wasn't the DNA test done before the mission? I don't think there has any DNA evidence presented that was taken from the corpse that verifies the identity as Bin Laden.

But I am sure the US will reveal more soon.

There are many, many people who believed that Bin Laden was 'righteous' in his leading the fight against the West......from *our* point of view their hands may well be dirty, but from their own, they were simply helping their man.
