When the time comes, should Margaret Thatcher be given a full state funeral
You could argue that there's a precedent (Churchill), who led the country to victory in a 20th century war.
Two opposing stories, and their responses from the Daily Mail, show that there might be some division in the way her demise may be percieved:

I remember two things she said, one was when she said "Go home and rejoice" and I could not work out what for and the other was when she said "We are a grandmother" I nearly died with embarrassment on her behalf. What an ego. She obviously thought she was Queen. No she should not have a state funeral, awful woman.
"Never forgive her for getting rid of milk in primary school. The highlight of my day as a 6 year old. "
The archives have actually demonstrated that she opposed this. And the policy she eventually accepted was a compromise to stop the government introducing charges elsewhere (e.g. libraries)

I Don No // She did more to harm this country that any contemporary I can think of and she did not do it alone. //
I often read remarks like this but no one gives examples . We know she stopped free milk for 12 to 15 yr olds ( It was stated at that time that time that most teenagers didn't drink it anyway . As a teacher I know that was true ) but all other chidren in nursery and primary schools still kept it .
So maybe you would like to give me some examples and links to justify your above statement , especially as she was repeatedly re-elected even in many Labour areas .

Yes...because she was the first woman to be elected to the office of prime minister, she led a government that changed society in so many ways some ways good some less so....and because as far as I can tell from people who actually met her and spent time with her she was actually a decent woman who would take time for people , without compromising her principles....yes principles something sadly lacking in so much of todays society ... I never forget my mother in law...a staunch member or the labour party in Finchley coming away from an old folks party for the elderly of the constituency saying how warm and approachable she was... It's just sad that she is ending her days in such a state...
