You could argue that there's a precedent (Churchill), who led the country to victory in a 20th century war.

Two opposing stories, and their responses from the Daily Mail, show that there might be some division in the way her demise may be percieved:

Well I'm pro State Funeral.
Churchill was a colossus. Can the same be said of Thatcher?
No, I don't think she should have one. There are still many scars from her 'rule'.
Yes - marvellous woman
The time to answer this is when the said lady dies. Am I the only one to find it rather sick that the intellectually bereft part of the socialist movement has nothing better to focus on than the demise of of a frail old lady?
I wouldn't like her to have a state funeral, I don't feel she deserves one.

What scars? Stopping the Trade Unions from holding country to ransom by standing up to them?
what the flump for?
Maybe they could build a dancefloor on her grave - for the people
...and she gave those Argentinians what for!
i swear i saw this q a couple of months ago
Doc, that's not funny. We shouldn't be polluting the sea.

Under no circumstances should this odious person be given a state funeral.

"The Mail on Sunday has also learned that the Government will meet the full cost of a State funeral for Baroness Thatcher."

How many more worthwhile beneficiaries of your taxes can you think of...?
Takes one to know one, Doc.
I'm not sure that she should be accorded a Full State Funeral.
However, she is certainly deserving of something more than Wilson et al received.
Can someone explain to me how this "odious person" managed to win three successive general elections? Especially after the experience of the "not quite so odious" Heath.
David Cameron and co would have to be very brave to give that woman a state funeral, should she die on their 'watch'.
Yes, she gave the Argentinians what for, but she caused the war in the first place by withdrawing the ship which protected the Falklands. What a false economy! She would have save a few thousand pounds, and ended up spending millions of pounds, and a lot of lives.
