Surely they would have done better if they had worn Burkas.
/// Officers described the female suspect as a black woman, about 5’5 tall, wearing black boots, white gloves and armed with a semi-automatic pistol. ///
/// The male suspect is described as a black man, about 5’7 inches tall, wearing black-and-white gym shoes, black-coloured gloves and armed with a revolver.///
How did they know they were black, when they were both wearing masks and gloves?

/// What the well-dressed OldGit around town would wear..........:o) ///
Another one for my collection, they will all come in handy when I am next accuses me of being insulting to other ABers.
Don't think that the smiley makes it somehow a joke, because you madam (or what the appropriate term is) are all too willing to dish the jibes out, but are not prepared to receive them in return. :0(

OK - let's not beat about the bush here.
I am sue I am not alone in interpereting AOG's reference of 'madam, or what ever the appropriater term is ...' as a dig at her sexual orientation, which is nasty in the extreme and demands either an explanation, if it is not true, and a fulsome apology if it is.
Over to you AOG ...

andy...OK let's NOT beat about the bush:
<<<<<We could wear cardigans with leatherette-buttons, trousers with the top button missing but held up with a belt somewhere around arm-pit level.....and nylon slippers with some amusing legend written on them.....
What the well-dressed OldGit around town would wear..........:o)>>>>>
I would also find that insulting whether it applies to AOG or any other senior citizen and JTH is expert at using the plural but at the same time being specific.
As to your other point...throughout my life I have referred to males as "Sir" and "Females"as madam......indeed I have often headed letters "Dear Sir or Madam" and maybe being a lesbian doesn't alter that fact.....however like AOG i would like to be put straight on that point.

Sqad - I don't believe AOG has requested any clarification on this issue.
As far as a little gentle humour is concerned - AOG is often keen to pick up others for not appreciating his 'humourous' posts - as he has done to me on this thread - so he cannot be blamed if others return his humour.
I find AOG to be hyper-sensitive about perceived slights which he believes are aimed at him - while being more than capable of adding them into his own contributions - hence my point, and at the time of writing, i await his response on this point.

Merely as a courtesy, I'll say....
My initial reply was to boxtop's question directly above my answer.
As the characters in the OP had dressed in women's clothes, I used the imagery of women in men's garb.........the 'OldGit' reference was just that.......the OP claims to be *another* of them, so he must recognise the stereotype ?
You'll have to explain your final point more fully, sqad........as I'm sure it can't possibly mean what it seems to imply.

Sqad - although the inference is AOG's, I am happy to respond to the point I interperet from his post if you wish, although I believe it is for him to response -
If AOG posted "because you madam ..." then that is appropriate use of a term of courtesy which I am sure Jack would appreciate. However, to append the phrase "... or what ever the appropriate term is ..." clearly infers that Jack does not merit the soubriet of 'Madam', but possibly another expression, the nature of which AOG has not seen fit to elaborate.
If you are attempting to defend him, i think you are on dodgy ground. Regulars here, which includes all of us, know that AOG is not short of the necessary levels of articulacy and language to say exactly what he means, with little if any room for confusion.
