embarrassment is my guess too - at the age of 17 I don't know what I would have done. At that age you don't necessarily have the self-confidence to call for the guard, or even run away.

I agree with jno, a vertically challenged slaphead with a juggler's hat on his lap is a bit of a surprise in a railway carriage ,and I suppose a sense of disbelief would have decended on the poor young woman, enough for her to sit there stunned and afraid to move.

I have been discussing this with my teenage daughter. She tells me that twice she has either moved seat or even got off the bus because she was uncomfortable.
Apparently it's 'nothing' and not worth making a fuss about.

I once saw a guy like him in a local park peeing through railings out onto the street, everything hanging out, ugh disgusting, and i did say so, there were lots of children around, so thought it very pervy.
