First may I apologise to both pixi- and pa___ul3 for getting their names confused with each other, it was because of this that I inadvertently accused pixi of saying something she didn't actually say.

I also apologise to pixi for accusing her of reporting my post, when in fact it was reported by the Answerbank reporter of all times, JTH.

He likes to promote debate on 'class-difference' and one could be forgiven for taking up this story following those lines.

Your first venture onto the thread was a complaint against me and a defence of your beloved Daily Mail.

All we can say about the people behaving badly in the article, is that they appear white........not necessarily white English, or white British.........just white.....and drunk and badly behaved. Had they been a different colour I would still have said they were badly behaved..........the difference between you and me, though, is that I wouldn't have automatically decided that this was because of their skin-colour.

Others have in the past made equal generalisations, 'Football Supporters' are all drunken thugs, 'Right-Wingers' are racist, fascists or Nazis, 'The British' are invading killers of civilians, 'Paedophiles' are mainly white middle aged men, etc, etc, etc.

Yet make a 'tongue in the cheek' remark about blacks with knives, and one is accused of being a racist, but any generalisation remarks about whites, and that is 'fair game'.
