Ah, now there's a lesson in equality for you.

i wonder if that policeman would have helped a chap out in such a way?

nice to see the police doing something right for a change.
I also believe he was being helpful but there are a lot of women's libbers who would call it patronising( and I still like a door being opened for me)
He's being helpful.
That's all.........

AOG, if you only see the negative in that I'd be worried! Are you really that bitter that you can't just accept that a fella's helping a young lady with her bag through some mud? If I saw a man struggling I'd see if he wanted a hand, to most decent people it's second nature, you have to be seriously warped to try and suggest he's doing something wrong!
One human being helping another. Is that so very strange?
No, he was confiscating her suitcase for being 'too loud'
35 years ago and referring tho that particular picture, I would have said that he was being "gallant"

Today....I honestly can't answer that question. The word "gallant " seems to have disappeared in the modern idiom and the word "patronising"seems to have taken it's place and as Brenden said....many females would call it patronising, so, sorry I unfortunately cannot answer that question.
Yes.....this thread is choc-full of women exclaiming how patronising it is......!?!

Sod women's lib, if I had to drag a large suitcase through a muddy field I wouldn't give a toss who offered help. I wouldn't consider it patronising, I would consider it helpful. Although the fact he is in uniform is an added bonus.
who is being patronising i wonder.
He`s just being helpful although anyone stupid enough to take a wheelie suitcase through a muddy field doesn`t deserve it.
Can't you see he's beating her up AOG, prosecute that fascist!

It seems only Brenden and Sqad have actually thought this one out, and have been intelligent enough to interpret the real reason for my post.

Whereas others have once again took the opportunity to have childish swipes at me, now there's a surprise.

In answer to you pa___ul3 may I say, you have to be seriously warped to read into this anything other than a reflection on women's liberation.

So providing a poster makes a 'swipe' at Women's Lib, you'll consider that to be a satisfactory contribution to your thread.........and if they don't then you will simply disregard whatever they have to say ?

So far.......so usual.....
You see the picture but don't know the complete story.
She's under arrest. She was caught trying to smuggle two foreigners into the UK in that bag. I believe she also uses a false passport.
