perhaps their effectiveness, memory, class control etc., would suffer with the onset of age. if this is the case, then would we not rather a younger teacher was educating our kids if they are approaching exam or assesment stage. no ?
my friend - who is a teacher - and i were discussing this, from her point of view she doles't want to still be teaching then, she thinks that on a teaching level (not personal relationships) younger staff are better suited
So, the rest of the ordinary (read private sector) population, which includes those in heavy industry, are expected to retire at 68 while "need not be extraordinary" teachers cannot be expected to cope at that age.
Why "wont" teachers work until they are 68 years of age because it is no longer a pleasure, all the "calling" has been squeezed out by having to deal with unruly kids and non supportive parents.
Unfortunately AOG teachers, unlike Churchill, are not allowed to function while full of brandy.
Futhurmore teachers do not waffle on they try their very best for every child/student. Correcting a few excercise books means putting the child/student down the right path.
If anybody can be accused of waffling my good man then you fit the bill.
