AOG - I think there is a valid point to be made about security of the Games - the new chief will need to pick up the reins on this, as in all other aspects of met policing, so the dilema is, do they look for an 'in house' candidate, when none is immediately suggested, but who will have knowledge and experience of Met policing, or do they look outside the Met, for someone untainted, bsut with no direct experience of the Met set-up, or the Olympic security plans.
The perceived wisdom is the an 'outsider' will be a better bet - you can bring a new body up to speed, you cannot 'un-taint' anyone connected with this whole sorry business.
