not necessarily many more. They have just dropped their inquiry into a Press Association reporter who was rash enough to lend her phone to Prince Charles' PR man - who used it to access his voicemails, which of course made it look as though she'd done it. So that's one arrest thrown into reverse.

All they seem to be panicking about is the security of next years Olympic Games.

well we should all be worried about that. Considering how many will be visiting, mixing with the millions who live here, going to be a bit of a nightmare.

Yes, I heard that this morning, AOG - "the difficult task of replacing John Stevenson in time for next year's Olympics".

AOG - I think there is a valid point to be made about security of the Games - the new chief will need to pick up the reins on this, as in all other aspects of met policing, so the dilema is, do they look for an 'in house' candidate, when none is immediately suggested, but who will have knowledge and experience of Met policing, or do they look outside the Met, for someone untainted, bsut with no direct experience of the Met set-up, or the Olympic security plans.

The perceived wisdom is the an 'outsider' will be a better bet - you can bring a new body up to speed, you cannot 'un-taint' anyone connected with this whole sorry business.

if you do a little research you will find that he was about to be suspended for alledgedly getting a job for someones daughter at Scotland Yard.

If his "conscience is clear" why does he need to resign ?
