My own personal opinion on this type of thing is, if you aren't born in a country you are resident in and you disagree with the actions of that country wheresoever, then you remove yourself from your host country because you disagree with its ethos/stance. This should surely be the case if that person finds it abhorrent that their host country is at "war" (in whatever sense you perceive it) with your birth country? If you do not like your host country behaving against your belief then go and take up arms or whatever you think is right in your homeland. Then, do not request or think you can come back to take up residence again in the host country you have just fought against. That's my take on it and the only fair way I see to deal with such matters. Each to his own, but don't expect to live in the country you detest. This would be the case for any country in the world, though I should imagine a lot of other countries wouldn't be as soft on immigrants as we are.
