8 newspapers have to pay out to him and each apologise to him - and the Mail and Sun were done for contempt of Court

Good for him.

When will the Press learn to to try and write news?

Why is it folk, and including some around here, automatically assume that someone is guilty before they are charged - and indeed before they are found guilty?

Any experiences of Jury Duty when you have been surprised at the eventul verdict from when you first heard the charges? Personally, I have never been called for duty, largely as I was always travelling.

From Sky news // Mr Jefferies was not at London's High Court for the settlement of his actions against the Sun, Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Daily Mail, Daily Record, Daily Express, Daily Star and Scotsman.

The retired school teacher's solicitor, Louis Charalambous, told the court the newspapers had acknowledged the falsity of the allegations in question which were contained in over 40 articles.

The court has also ruled that the Sun and Daily Mirror had breached contempt laws in reports about Mr Jefferies and fined the papers £18,000 and £50,000 respectively. //
