was next to the swinging doors on gould street

now granted the bengal and angel meadow were the biggest of the gangs but it gives you some idea of the size of the fight that took place down on st michael flags

Very interesting this journey back in time, to somehow prove a point. But while some still have that smug expression on their faces I wish to make the following points.

1) Shooting in Manchester circ.1911, nowhere can I see any reference to the colour of their skins.

2) How does one know for certain there were no 'black faces' among the Bengal & Angel Meadow gangs?

3) One mentions the 'Mods & Rockers', I can never remember any fatalities during that time, unlike today when it is almost a daily occurrence.

4) I wonder why, couldn't be because capital punishment was in force at that time, could it?

that is because they were all white

there would be people around that had never seen a black person, you can bet your last pound that if a black person had fired the gun it would have made the front page headline that day

Obviously it cannot possibly stop murder (or the other crimes you mentioned) completely, and it would be stupid to say it would.

I must disagree with this statement of yours, we never had so many child murders, rapes, almost nightly fatalities from stabbings and shootings etc that we have today.

Why such infamous crimes as 'Jack the Ripper' committed, or Dr Crippin, John George Haigh acid bath murders, Ruth Ellis, John Reginald Halliday Christie, or Neville Heath, all infamous murders and all committed while hanging was in force, but which would most likely not have hit the headlines today.

So those could not be the most horrific crimes that took place while hanging was in force, so I think my point is not 'debunked', as you so wrongfully pointed out.
