I just wanted to know if there were any reports of anyone dying as a result of the rioting?

With all the buildings being burnt to the ground in particular, many of which have private dwellings above them, it is nothing short of a miracle if there have been no fatalities.

a fatality triggered the riots in the first place

Whether I believe that or not, I will refrain from commenting.

However, the question title was loss of lives due to rioting. Not rioting due to loss of lives.
There have been press photos of people escaping burning buildings, so I would not be surprised if there are fatalities.

Only our future !
No one knows yet because some of these buildings are still burning.
There's just been confirmation on BBC that the fella who was shot in croydon last night has died.
Yes, a 26 year old man was shot in Croydon last night. He has since died.

Shocking image Gromit. Sends a shiver up your spine.

VHG - I don't believe that either. Their future maybe, but not mine.

Thanks China and HC. I wonder if any of the low lives give it a second thought. Actually, I think I know the answer to that.
What a waste. Wasn't he trying to defend his car?
I don't know of any details. Last night when it happened it didn't seem clear if it was connected to the looting/rioting or if this was a seperate crime with a seperate motive. Have there been any more reports on it?
Mothercare livlihoods lost due to looting - youths have rucksax full of baby wipes...........
BBC has just reported that the man shot in Croydon last night has died
good night to get away with murder I suppose. People are using the panic, confusion and anarchy to get away with stealing - some are taking it further than that. You want anarchy - you got it. Anyone on the streets in that scenario is fair game unfortunately.

Have you any children or grandchildren milly, because if your future isn't dying at the moment, what do you think the future is for these young innocents?

Because things will only get worse, there is very little prospect of them getting better.

You're definitely having a glass half empty kind of day.
Yes, there has been a fatality due to the rioting.I got caught up in riots in Lilongwe (Malawi) years ago and it was terrifying - I can't believe that too many people who are in the thick of it in London don't mean to be there. Obviously there will be some residents who are just in the wrong place at the wrong time as I was but imho, if you are in the midst of the action you have chosen to be there.
Question Author
AOG - no I don't have children yet. This country might have some serious problems at the moment but I don't think it'worth writing off mine and the next generations future. Not just yet anyway.
One mother who was interviewed said that she would move out of Tottenham if she could, she was black by the way, as she didn't want her children growing up in the current climate, and with all the criminal gangs that are around, sensible woman, but where to go?
