In the light of his son being killed in the Birmingham riots, no one can imagine what he is going through, he tried valiantly to resuscitate his boy without success, it is he that will be shown as a pillar of his community on the red tops and the broad sheets, not the scum that were responsible for the mindless thuggery , turning in on their own communities.

Yes what stuck in my mind was that he said we should ALL live peacefully together no matter what race we are - he is a genuine kind upright citizen. Nobody can bring his son back but we all feel for him and his family right now and hope he feels some comfort in knowing we are all behind him and truly sympathise. God bless him.

Brenden is right, leave personal grievances out , this is a man who has shown great dignity while facing such heartache and loss
I agree with everything said on here about this man. I am not a religious person but I don't think the term saintly would be an unjust statement to describe him.

I would hope that the politicians and police appriciate what Tariq Jahan's words, possibly, averted and after due time talk to him.

I for one, who can be as rabid as any about certain situations, need to remember this man, his words and his stunning humanity rather than point an unwarrented finger.
The Home Secretary, Teresa May, has just effusively praised Tariq Jahan in the Commons debate.

glad to hear this Gromit, he is a shining example to his faith and his community, indeed, to all of us
The Chief Constable of West Midlands paid tribute to Tariq Jahan

// ''I think it was a decisive impact,'' Mr Sims replied. ''Those words were so powerful, so heart-felt and so spontaneous and generous that I think anyone that heard them must have been moved.

''I think that was a decisive intervention in terms of Birmingham not suffering tension and violence between communities.

''Certainly, anyone that felt that there was any mileage from continuing a cycle of violence in the name of those young men that died will have thought twice about it.'' //
I have real admiration for this man.

Sadly, there are those in our country who are hell bent on stirring up racial hatred and division. However, the word this man spoke can't fail to make a difference.
