Mr Bagpuss was made redunadant and he applied for every job he could , part time full time anything but as there were also 200 other people applying for the same jobs he did not necessarily have the right experience to get "any job" so it is not always as simple as saying that you need to diversify to get a job.
As for saying that the WSS pays too much so he just wanted to sit on his arse all day and do nothing, I will have you know that because he had always worked he was only entitled to 6 months benefits and after that he was not entitled to anything else. Because I worked, he could not apply for any other benefits either so eventually we had to declare bankruptcy and lose everything. It took him 18 months to find a job so don't you dare try and sit there and tell me that there are plenty of jobs out there if people want them because he would have killed for a job, any job just to put a roof over our heads and food on the table.
Try being in that situation before you sound off about things you know nothing about.
Having said all that.. the rioters are scum bags and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law!

Believe me bagpuss I've done lots of jobs, I had 3 jobs when I was thirteen, never scrounged a penny. I have never been made redundant but I've jacked a few with no job to go to, I simply do not believe there are no jobs, I walked up m local high st the other day and many had jobs advertised in the window. Em, I understand what you are saying and thanks for not having a hissy fit like Filth but the simple fact is that, yes it may be a come down to do a lower job but it's not as low as being on the rock and roll.
For your information then Geezer - 64.50 per week and it is not 'free money' to someone that has always paid his national insurance stamps. Also for your information, taking a low job may not always be an option. Just because you have jobs in your area does not mean that we have them in our area low paid or otherwise.
