Looks like a Red Arrow has crashed at the Bournmouth airshow. Let`s hope he/she is OK. The coastguard has been involved. Maybe it went into the sea.

This from the BBC site - still doesn't say anything about the pilot http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14602900
AlBags, in an earlier DM report they said they had received information that it was one of two men that they then named. Knowing the DM though it could well be wrong.

One of the reporters mentioned a "popping sound". Could be hopeful. That could have been the ejector.
Our local news has said they have unconfirmed reports that the pilot died. It has really shaken us as we were at the beach watching the brilliant display minutes earlier. It appears the crash site was directly in line with our back garden about a mile away as the crow flies, seeing the helicopters hovering over it is a sobering sight. I hope the reports aren't true but it doesnt look good.
Awww what a shock for you rrg. A bit close to home eh?
the ejector seat and parachute were seen in the river and there was a report from a witness seeing the pilot on the bank - didnt say dead or alive.

Why all the secrecy - its not as if the Red Arrows were carrying top secret missiles - or maybe they were?
the only reason surely could be notifying the pilots family....

Probably because the RAF have taken over the investigation DT. Not like the Staines Trident crash then when it became a spectacle with traffic queues and ice cream vans!
It's a military aircraft so it's all very secretive at the moment.
They came right over my house minutes before, airport is about 2 miles, very low and very fast more than usual so much so my missus had commented it would be terrible if one hit the houses.

It is feared the pilot went into the river just south of the airport, about 1/4 mile from my mother in law.

News just in, pilot isw dead, was thrown from the aircraft. Very sad

That is so sad, I feel for his family and friends, and the other red arrows.
The pilot has been confirmed dead and named as Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging. R.I.P.
darn it. Very sad. Condolences to family and friends.
How very sad.My condolences to his family.
That's awful news Daffy - what a sad waste of life -
I watched a part programme during the week about the Blue Angels (US version of our Red Arrows) it is amazing what they do, and how they do it. Very sad. I hope the Health and Safety bods don't get their hands on it...
Awful.awful news, how very sad. R.I.P.
Sad news indeed.
Thoughts are with John's family.
Pity Jake just uses this as ammo for criticism, why do lefties hate the military when it's them that protects their flawed ideology? Serves him right eh Jake? wasting fuel on a war machine. Well done you've done your mates proud.
Just an observation geezer

Sorry not to get caught up in the mandatory competive mourning for someone none of us knew just because it was someone in the military.

Do you not think the increase in their accidents is noteworthy?

Is there a reliability issue with the planes?
Are the stunts becoming too risky?

I won't dare to suggest that the quality of. The pilots might be declining for risk of being branded a traitor by you!

Why do you think they are having so many more accidents?
