If the DM is to be believed, and on this one, I presume that it is accurate then it is proper that the grandmother is prosecuted. She was out to goad her coloured "rival," nothing less. If a six year old had placed the doll in a window as part of play, this is not a crime - there has to be intent. And in this Suffolk case, there is more than intent. (OMG I was just about to write intent in sp_des - an unfortunate pun)......

If that intent is proven, then she shoulld have the book thrown at her - look at her surroundings etc and she should have known better... Best thing she could do is apologise ahead of her court case in public and in private and plead gulity - and see if the offended woman would make a case for mitigation. A bit of humble pie perhaps.............

I've never taken the race industry seriously since we were told by a teacher who had "been on a course", cause for groans, that a black person could not be racist! As a very dear black frfiend has said on many occasions, the vast majority of claims of racism are an insult to the maturity and intelligence of the black community.

I think it is at the story - if so, read it daisy, there was a lot of argument/provocation going on and this was the apogee (if that is the right term) of it all - and it was OTT...whether it should have gone to court, that is the pathetic bit - someone should have defused it, i.e. the local police unless there was past form.

What if it had been Rosie and Jim in her window? Golliwogs weren't considered racist, but a childs toy, I've seen black dolls on sale. It was the PC busybodies who decided gollies must be banned such a shame for the children who loved them.

My daughter wanted a Chinese baby doll. Never did find one.
