nah, i think the "rebels" done their bit
I think they should deal with home issues before sorting out other countries
Libya has not been rid of a dictator and democracy has not been created , but having embarked upon a course of action that has killed tens of thousands and disrupted millions of lives , they must surely be favourites to win the prize .
P.S. just because a politician says he has created democracy does not mean that he has . Journalists are a joke .
Well, democracy of course is not their business. That's up to Libya.
Also, strictly speaking their actions were not exactly "peaceful" though I fully supported them.
So not sure about a Nobel Peace Prize in the short term, but they deserve a lot of credit and I speak as someone who can't stand their domestic policies.

Who says lies and propaganda don't play a large part in today's media.
The first report is a shocker
Let's wait about 18 months...

I'm no expert, but I have a very bad feeling about what's coming next. For example - do you think that Gadaffi's supporters are going to quietly going to accede to the new social order?
No and no.
No they only instigated it. There will be a lot of unrest there for a while, tribal conflict etc.
Libya was liberated by its own people with support from NATO (not Britain and France). So No Peace Prizes.

As for creating Democracy there, that is far too premature to say. We do not really know our new friends yet, and there behaviour and actions over the next few months need to closely watched before we can say they are acting democratically. My guess is they won't be.
Is there oil in Libya?.....
Yes, China and Russia are waiting in the wings.

I'd prefer a prime minister who concentrated on his own people rather than sticking his nose into other countries affairs. We cannot afford it and it's probably compromising the security of the country (as if it has not done so already).
TTG

BP had signed lucrative oil deals with the last Libyan Government. If anything, we had the most to lose by a change of Libyan Government. By making sure we backed the winners early on and visits like yesterdays designed to let them and our competitors know that, our advantage and existing contracts will mean this is good for Britain and the British Economy.

And the whole adventure shouldpay for itself. Iraq was supposed to work this way as well (be a self financing war) but the planning was done by the US, not very well, and it all went terribly wrong in costs and lives.
NO.
"Is there oil in Libya?..... "

There really ought to be some sort of "swear box" or b**lshit bingo game for this sort of remark :-)
In fairness it took until reply number 10 this time...
Well if you're handing out Nobel peace prizes for fighting wars !

perhaps you'd like to start with Blair and Bush for ridding the world of the equally unpleasant Saddam Husein.

Or are you only handing out prizes for fighting popular wars in which no Britons are killed?

If another Dictator seizes control in Lybia will you ask for it back?

If I remember rightly Obama was given one not so long ago. That was not for solving the world's problems but just the expectation he would carry something out. At least Cameron and Sarcozy have put their reputations on the line and nulling Gaddafi's forces.

Obama meanwhile has increased the use of drones, has not solved the Arab/Israeli crisis, has got his troops to invade Pakistan to kill Bin Laden and troops are dying in huge numbers in Pakistan.
