/// 'The movement aims to unite the United Kingdom’s far-flung activist communities ///
Isn't that a miss-print, should it not read, "'The movement aims to unite the United Kingdom’s Far-Left activist communities?
Another outing for the 'Lefties' it seems, I wonder if the police will come down on them as they do on 'Right Wing' outings?
Why can't the Home Secretary ban this, like she did the last EDL march?

Left wing, right wing, countryside alliance, or pensioners on speed, i don't care, enough already.
It would seem that some are seeking this,
Communism
a. A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
b. The Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat.
And we all know what that means don't we?
Or at least some do.

The underlying problem is the ever-widening gulf between the wealthy and the 'Middle Class'. The protesters aren't advocating the adoption of Communism - they just want a future for themselves, their children and grandchildren. Will your grandchildren (if you have any) be able to afford to drive or buy a house today or in the future?
It is only a redistrtibution of wealth that will settle the ferment, not just in the US and UK, but in other areas such as the Arab nations, Europe and Asia. Hoping for an economic Renaissance is hopeless as China has subsumed the West's economy. We have lost virtually all our manufacturing and that is the problem. First it went to Eastern Europe then to China and the rest of Asia. Unless the UK starts to re-build ships, cars, steel, electrical goods etc, starts to eat most of her own produce again and burns her own coal, oil and gas then the UK and EU economies will only continue to decline. 'Time' magazine recently made the analogy that if a mechanic sells his tools to pay outstanding debts then he has no hope of paying future ones!
Wealth must be redistributed for these protests to stop. But how - I don't think anyone knows!

Your suggestions just like Communism sound good but are not workable.
/// Unless the UK starts to re-build ships, cars, steel, electrical goods etc, ///
Who would buy them? We couldn't possibly compete with Japan, China or India and that is a fact.
/// starts to eat most of her own produce again ///
We do now but we don't grow produce that we now expect to find on our supermarket shelves every day of the year.
/// and burns her own coal, oil and gas ///
We cannot again become a coal mining nation, because it would now cost too much to re-open the pits, and aren't we dissuaded from burning coal? But we do burn some of the oil and gas we get from the North Sea however.
As regards the Time Magazine's analogy, it is not worth the mechanic buying new tools even if he could afford it, if he hasn't a job where he could use those tools.
