AOG - because the headline says "Told To Write To The Prime Minister Over Teachers Pensions" which says a whole lot more than what actually happened

The teacher may well have apologised, I guess s/he was angry at her pay freezes, pension cuts etc etc but that doesn't/didn't make the assignment wrong. Foolhardy, perhaps, but had the children been older? I don't see why they cannot learn something from this situ myself

These are primary school children, for heaven's sake - politics shouldn't be affecting them like this. Most have no idea what financial strategy means. It sounds as if they have been heavily influenced by the teacher's gripes, which I think is bang out of order.

they have implied the teacher was intending to send these letters to the pm in the hope of gaining extra support for the issue... they were not... no-one outside the school and examiners would see them... they were told to pick a topical and relevant topic for the exam essay, so they chose one that was immediately relevant to the school

even if they had sent them to the pm, i doubt a handful of badly written ill-informed waffle from a load of 11 year olds would have made much difference to the issue would it... theyd have likely just been binned.

the teacher is in trouble because of all the complaints, and because he obviously didnt clear it with the head first - although the head could have been just saying this to appease the angry parents...

i dont really see the problem, any more than writing on any other topical subject is supporting that either

brenden...what are you talking about ... i havent said they were not ordered to do that... it was part of an exam - so yes they were 'ordered' as you put it... my point was about the intention and usage of the letters once written.

I did joko, the children did not pick the subject the teacher did - and they were ordered to write to the P.M.- and it was not relevant to the school it was to the teachers, probably if you had 11 year old children you would be concerned, if you have children that age more shame on you for condoning it.

i did not say anywhere that the children chose the subject - so where the hell did you get that one from?

and they were 'ordered to write to the PM' - yes, as an EXCERCISE in writing and constructing a written piece ... they were mock letters - it was a TEST from an EXAM - They were not to actually post him a letter!

it states quite clearly in the article that no-one other than school officials would ever see the letters...

nor have i 'condoned' anything... i just dont see why its such an issue... any more than them writing an essay on Nazis is condoning the holocaust!

the TEACHER chose the subject for the test - its there in black and white in the article - which you would know if you had read it properly
