And I go back to my "concern" - why didn't his wife raise the "alarm" if she received a text that referred to his want to commit suicide?

Some people do those type of things. For all we know he could have threatened suicide every time they had a row.

The reason for the suicide hasn't been given. By all accounts they had had 'words' after they had been out, his wife drove off, and later slept in the car. That doesn't sound right to me, surely if she had been concerned about his state of mind she would have gone back home or at least stayed with him after the row.

One thing puzzles me in this sad sad story - if his wife was locked out in the early hours, how did she manage to get back in - in the morning after she had seen him hanging and the paramedics talked her through how to revive him?

I know two people who committed suicide. Both had lots to live for.

Mental illness is not something that's rational.

It's not obvious at all - nobody knows what goes on in people's marriages. If the bloke was depressed, it's difficult to live with - you don't think straight at all.
