Does anyone know what MPs receive nowadays for getting on their bikes, i.e. losing their constituency seat, to tide them over?  It used to be 10,000 when I read about it in the '80s, I think.  And are their pensions frozen or what?

Thanks for the link, Avis.  I am disturbed by the escalating cost of government, local, national and supra-national.  Ordinary folk have a terrible burden to bear these days, before there's any national 'cake' to share out.  I worked for one of the old guard once who used to pronounce 'too many Chiefs and no Indians' when appropriate. I'll have a dip into that website.
