A thought about life

I wondered if anyone believes in this or finds it to be true: A dear friend told me years ago that life can be counted on one hand in the sense of - health, wealth, children, love-relationships and career.

I've probably said this before and its probably a philosophical statement of some form but as it is no-one gets all five of those and no-one goes without all five.

So for example a person may be happy with their love-life, career..but their health may not be good or they are prone to injuries etc.

I was wondering if anyone else holds this kind of view or finds some truth in it?

Every person could interperet each of those categories on an individual basis so any person could well have all five, depending on their perspective.

My besty mate`s got all five. So it is possible.

I agree it is open to interpretation.

For example my health is clearly not as good as it was when i was younger, but it is better than many others have to put up with: so do I have good health or not ?

Personally I think I'm scoring about half way in my life. So the glass is still half empty.

Finally managed one of them

That's true, I never thought of it in the way that it would depend upon one's interpretation.

The thoughts been in my mind lately because I struggle in the work section. My shortest job has been 8 hours. Longest a few months. Other than working in a family business for a time, I have been fortunate to be able to raise my children and have an education, so I haven't worked most of the time.

But once educated, the recession hits and no-one is taking on trainees...etc. I have applied for countless jobs, in the past even before my children and I never got them. Now my degree will be obs...(dead)

I can't help feeling that life is not good to me when it comes to work? Something always happens. I don't get luck in that area. Which is difficult because we all unfortunately need an income to survive.

I am just having a moan.

Surprised and pleased to say I have got all five (at the moment). Health good. Wealth - enough to live comfortably. children and grandchildren. love-relationships yes. career - a big yes. Employed more or less continuously for past 45 years . Longest employment 13 years, shortest 10 years. So people can and do get all five.

I have had health issues all my life but survive them
never been wealthy but always had just enough to get by
never had children but seeing others post have never had the pain of losing them as a result
career prospects blighted by health issues but had some good jobs
love/relationships I have the most lovely man in my life
